The problem.
The person running a small business is the bottleneck in it. Not because they are slow — because the work that matters needs their voice and their judgment, and it arrives in channels no assistant lives in. WhatsApp. Telegram. A personal inbox. Threads pile up faster than one person can answer them, and the answer usually has to sound like them.
The tools that would help are the ones they cannot use. A cloud assistant means handing a vendor the contents of your business and hoping the terms do not change. And nearly all of them are built to act on your behalf — which is precisely the thing an owner will not allow anywhere near a real client, a real account, and real money.
So the work waits. Decisions get made late, or tired, or at eleven at night.
The idea.
We did not set out to build a smarter assistant. We set out to build one you would actually let near your accounts.
Doppelganger is a digital twin — software that learns how one specific person works and does the work the way they would. It watches the channels you already run your business through, drafts the replies and the follow-ups itself, and then stops. Anything consequential queues in an Operator Inbox and waits for your yes. Before it does something that matters it asks a rules engine you control, and if it cannot reach that rules engine, it does not act. No answer means no action.
It runs on your own server — not our cloud, yours. What your twin sees never leaves machines you control. And you buy it once, as software you own, instead of renting it per seat forever.
What we are focused on.
The capability is getting cheap. Approval-gated, model-swappable software that runs on your own hardware exists in the open now, and there will be more of it next year, not less. We do not think that is the scarce part.
Getting it running is the scarce part. Twelve modules, each with its own storage. A private network. Connector permissions narrow enough that send a message does not quietly also mean delete the channel. A hardening pass on every door. Most attempts at this do not fail because the software was wrong — they stall half-configured on a box somebody stopped logging into.
So that is the part we do. An engineer installs the whole system on your infrastructure in one pass and hands you the keys, the security report, and a map of what is running. Then we stay on call. The install is the product. The software is the easier half.
What it does not do.

- No self-serve signup — every install goes through an engineer.
- Twin-to-twin mesh is off by default, and it isn't finished.
- Memory is early. It is good at what it has seen; it is not a finished knowledge product.
- It never sends, pays, signs, or deletes. You do.
- No customers to name yet. We would rather say that than invent one.
Who we are.
Two of us. One builds it, one sells it. We are building our own first vertical on the platform — Doppelganger VC, tuned for investors — because we would rather run our own software than describe it.
